 A program called Lalon 'Mahati Sadhusanga and Lalon Mela' has been closed in Narayanganj due to objections from Hefazat-e-Islam and local devotees. The program was supposed to take place on Friday and Saturday, but in the end, the fair was closed due to lack of permission from the district administration.

 Lalon devotees from various parts of the country, including Kushtia, came to participate in the fair, but in the end, everyone had to return.

Organizer Fakir Shahjalal told BBC Bangla that this fair and event have been organized regularly for the past ten years.

Mr. Shahjalal told BBC Bangla, “Such a simple event has been closed today due to Hefazat and the local devotees. Not only is it closed, I am also under threat.”

Biswa Sangbad spoke to the Narayanganj district administration, Hefazat-e-Islam, cultural activists and the organizer about this.

Hefazat-e-Islam's statement that the event was closed is that the District Administrator has taken the initiative to close the event at the request of the area's devout devotees because 'subculture' was being practiced in the name of Lalon Mela.

Abdul Awal, the central Nayeb-e-Ameer of Hefazat-e-Islam and Narayanganj leader, told BBC Bangla, “They make the girls dance in a way that is unacceptable in the name of a fair there.”

After the closure of this event, cultural activists in Narayanganj have also expressed their anger. They see the matter as a failure of the district administration.

However, Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Mahmudul Haque told BBC Bangla, "The kind of situation that arose around this event, if it had not been closed, it would have been difficult to handle the situation."

After the fall of the Awami League government in the face of a mass uprising, incidents of attacks on shrines, vandalism, and closure of traditional fairs are also taking place in different parts of the country.

When these incidents occur one after another, questions have also been raised about why the administration is unable to provide security.
